BIRTH CERTIFICATE IN DELHI

Birth Certificate is an important Legal Document serves Identity proof and it is mandatory to report & register birth within 21 days of occurrence as per the Registration of Births Act, 1969.

In Delhi, Municipal Corporation Department issue Birth Certificate which has been further divided into Three Departments based on their Zone – 

NORTH DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION (NDMC)

Applicants whose Birth has been recorded under North Zone needs to apply for Birth Certificate from NDMC.

Zones covered – Karol Bagh Zone, Civil Lines Zone, Narela Zone, Rohini Zone, Keshavpuram Zone, City – S P Zone.

SOUTH DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION (SDMC)

Applicants whose Birth has been recorded under South Zone needs to apply for Birth Certificate from SDMC.

Zones covered – Central Zone, South Zone, West Zone, Najafgarh Zone.

EAST DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION (EDMC)

Applicants whose Birth has been recorded under East Zone needs to apply for Birth Certificate from EDMC.

Zones covered – Sh. South Zone, Sh. North Zone.

HOW TO GET BIRTH CERTIFICATE IN DELHI?

Parents need to fill a Form as provided by Hospital asking Name, Address, Nationality, Qualification & other details and after that Hospital authorities will record the details of Child.

Hospital will file the details to Municipal Corporation Department as per the Zone. For ex: If Hospital is located at Rohini then the details shall be recorded under NDMC.

Once the Records are updated, Hospital authority will provide a “Reference Number & Acknowledgement Receipt” to Parents which can be use for further process.

The parents will have to approach to respective Municipal Authority and need to provide Reference Number & Receipt to officials. Authority will issue a Provisional Birth Certificate having the details of child.

After that a photocopy of provisional birth certificate along with an ID proof of parent should be submitted to the Municipal Authority for Original copy of Birth Certificate and after that authorities will issue Original Birth Certificate.

  • Prescribed Filled Application Form.
  • Proof of Birth of Child (Hospital Registration Slip, Discharge Slip).
  • Affidavit mentioning Date, Time and Place of Birth of Child.
  • Address proof of Parent.
  • Identity proof of either Parent.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADDITION OF NAME

  • Adhaar Card of any of one Parent.
  • Birth Certificate of Child.
  • Residence Proof of Parents.
  • Photographs as instructed by Department.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR DELAYED BIRTH REGISTRATION

  • A request Letter from parent.
  • Proof of Address where Child Birth has takes place.
  • Affidavit in a prescribed format giving details child.
  • Proof of Birth Date.
  • Aadhar Card.
